Pitch a Second NIL Project Using Your First Results Report — practical worksheet and example

Pitch a Second NIL Project Using Your First Results Report

October 1, 2026

Use the first project’s actual results to explain a useful next idea. A renewal pitch should show what you learned without turning clicks or views into invented sales.

01

Separate delivery from outcomes

Start with what was completed: the asset, channel and publication date.

02

Identify one useful lesson

Look for a practical observation that can guide another project.

03

Propose a focused next test

Connect the next deliverable to the lesson.

Separate delivery from outcomes

Start with what was completed: the asset, channel and publication date. Then report the available audience or response data with its source and date range. A post view, link click and completed purchase are different measures. If purchase data is unavailable, say so rather than estimating revenue from a social-platform number.

Identify one useful lesson

Look for a practical observation that can guide another project. Maybe the product demonstration answered common questions, or the posting window left little time before an event. Avoid calling a single result proof that the campaign caused an increase in business. Ask the sponsor what it observed on its side and keep those observations attributed.

Propose a focused next test

Connect the next deliverable to the lesson. Explain what you would change, keep and measure. Include a realistic timeline and scope rather than assuming the previous agreement automatically renews. The proposal should stand on its own even if the first project had modest results. A useful next step may be improving the landing page before making more content.

Worked example

Fictional example: A runner’s first store video received 900 reported views and 24 tracked link clicks during the agreed reporting window. No purchase data was shared. The next pitch proposes a clearer size-guide demonstration because that was a repeated viewer question. It reports the two observed metrics separately and does not claim 24 customers or assign revenue to the campaign.

Your working sheet

Copy these prompts into your own project notes. Keep private details in your records, and leave unanswered questions marked as unresolved.

  • Delivered work: asset, account and publication date.
  • Observed metrics: source, date range and exact definition.
  • Missing data: what cannot be measured or attributed?
  • Lesson: one observation supported by the record.
  • Next proposal: the change and its practical purpose.
  • Measurement plan: what will be checked after publication?

Before your next step

Use consistent definitions across reports so the comparison means something. Do not add clicks from overlapping reports and call the total unique people. Keep the original report attached to the proposal, preserve tracking parameters on approved links and avoid replacing uncertainty with a confident-looking chart.

Continue with the sponsor results report and the new-project scope sheet.
